A Way Home (2010) is a one-act chamber opera, intended for (but not limited to) middle and high school aged audiences. The opera was commissioned in March, 2010 by the Houston Grand Opera as part of its Mexico 2010 project. It was premiered throughout Houston area schools, as well as public venues such as the Miller Outdoor Theatre and the Heinen Theatre. Over two seasons of performances, A Way Home was seen by more than 7,500 students. The accompaniment for this production was comprised of synthesizer (with sampling of the singer’s voices) and cello.

A Way Home was selected by Opera Southwest as the winner of its Brabson Composers Competition in 2011, and revised and orchestrated for a 13-piece orchestra. The opera was mounted in April of 2012 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, NM. More info here.
